I went to Bikram yoga again today. When I first went a few weeks ago I found it really uncomfortable looking at myself in the mirror the whole time but last time I was in the last row and couldn’t see myself so I learned that it actually helps a lot if you are visible in the mirror.
Today I was closer to the front and tried to not stare at the little annoying spare tire that’s around my hips. I did everything slowly and tried to be as controlled and smooth as possible. I’m seeing quite a bit of imbalance in my body but I guess that’s why I’m doing this yoga thing. Also, I gently did some poses that used to aggravate my funny knee and so far it’s not painful.
Last night I was thinking again about getting a boob job but there was an older lady in front of me with fake boobs and they looked all wrong for her body… So now I’m thinking I just need to get some padded sports bras.
All in all I think I like this Bikram gig. It’s long and it’s sweaty but I’ve done yoga on and off for over a decade and know it’s good for me. And now that I’m running and doing Crossfit I think it’s even more important that I get a good stretching session in once a week.
I know a lot of people go more often but I couldn’t at the moment – 90 minutes is a long time in a hot room and I think I’ll just do it once a week so I don’t get bored of it and risk quitting it.
I also did a quick run this morning, 7.5km in less than 39 minutes. That’s pretty good timing but not as fast as yesterday’s 6.25km in 30 minutes. I’m definitely getting faster over shorter distances, I need to do a park run to see how fast the legs can go in a 5km ‘race’ situation.
Anyway, time to get my butt off to Sweaty Betty now before school pick-up.
Have a lovely Wednesday wherever you are and don’t forget to MOVE!
