The week after Paris marathon I ran a total of 6.75km. I wasn’t sore but we stayed in Paris and walking around with kids every day was exhausting (and time-consuming) enough.
Last week, however, was a regular marathon training week – I am after all meant to run the Milton Keynes marathon on 5th of May 😐
Training summary for last week:
- Monday: Crossfit
- Tuesday: Crossfit
- Wednesday: 30.22km at 6:02 pace
- Thursday: Rest
- Friday: 10.14km at 5:11 pace; 20 min of bouldering
- Saturday: Rest with a 20 min of hitting soft kids’ tennis balls back and forth with the Mr
- Sunday: 15.77km at 5:14 pace; 2 x 250m breast stroke
Total: 56.13km
Doing long runs again so soon after a marathon is mentally much tougher than I expected. The 30k I did last week was sort of doable but yesterday’s 24km was very tough – I had planned to do 25 but for the first time ever I ran less than I set out to run. I just felt tired and I also felt really really hungry. This hasn’t happened to me during a run before and it really bothered me, I just wanted to get it over and done with so I could EAT.
This week I’m running around 40k and next week I’m tapering again 🙂 I’m a little bit anxious about another marathon so soon but I’ll just take it as the last hurrah – if not forever then for 2014 anyway.
