Every December my Crossfit box does something called 12 Days of Crossfit. It means if you’re brave (or insane) enough you’ll go 12 consecutive days and in the end there’s a party (but everyone’s so sore by then that they just roll around the floor on foam rollers and the beer stays untouched).
I lied a little bit there but there’s All The Truth in the soreness. I’ve done 8 days and whereas I can walk and sit, I just want somebody to take all my limbs and stretch them in all different directions so I feel fluid again. And by fluid I mean opposite of stiff as a plank.
We are flying out to Sydney tonight so I’m calling it quits after 8 days. I would have time today to go in at lunchtime but there’s Fran and Fran’s not a nice girl (thrusters and pull ups and possibly throwing up for time).
Some of the highlights from this year’s 12 days:
Rope climbs and burpees and running in a 20lbs weight vest
Sub 4-minute Grace (30 clean and jerks at 40kg) and almost Rx weight Isabel (30 snatches at 40kg, I did 30kg)
10:07 Helen time (PB) (3 rounds of 400m run, 21 kettle bells @16kg and 12 pull ups)
A Cindy PB (20 min of 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 air squats)
And a totally mental workout yesterday called DVB which is this for time (see if you can wrap your brain around it):
Medicine Ball Run, 9/6kg, 1 mile
— then —
8 rounds of:
10 Wall Balls 9/6kg
1 Rope Climb, 15 ft
— then —
Medicine Ball Run, 9/6kg, 800 m
— then —
4 rounds of:
10 Wall Balls, 9/6kg
1 Rope Climb, 15 ft
— then —
Medicine Ball Run, 9/6kg, 400 m
— then —
2 rounds of:
10 Wall Balls, 9/6kg
1 Rope Climb, 15 ft
It’s been a fun 8 days but now I’m looking forward to 2 weeks in Australia and mostly just swimming and eating.
Here’s one last video from day 7:
