The weather is getting chilly but that doesn’t mean runners run any less. I personally prefer to run in the winter – when I’m properly layered up and not too cold or too hot, running in the cold is very enjoyable and once my muscles warm up I can run much faster than in the summer when it’s very hot.
In the summer I don’t leave for a run without an electrolyte tablet or two in my water bottle. I find that if I run for more than 10km without taking electrolytes, I feel very nauseous and fatigued afterwards. In the winter I’m a bit more slack since I don’t feel that I sweat as much, but the fact is that long runs always benefit from electrolytes and proper hydration, no matter the weather or the season.
When it comes to electrolyte tablets, I’m a nuun girl through and through. Nuun tablets come in great flavours that are not overpowering or nauseating (like some other products definitely are :|) and they do not upset my sensitive digestion (major winning point for me). I love all their fruity flavours but I’m dying to get my hands on their watermelon flavour which seems to be like the magic unicorn of nuun tablets – thought to exist but no one’s seen one personally to prove it (anyone? is this an American-only flavour maybe??)
Lots of my friends are getting ready to start spring marathon training and those extra long runs will definitely need something extra in the water. The nuun team sent me some tablets to try out but since I already love them a lot and am a loyal customer, I’m giving away 3 tubes of tablets (grape, fruit punch and strawberry lemonade) and a “I run London” 500ml water bottle:
